Mack Named Track Coach at Alemany

Six weeks after the school’s new track and cross-country coach failed to show up on the job, Alemany High has completed the replacement process, naming Jon Mack as the coach for boys’ and girls’ track.
Kate Cerruti, a teacher and coach at the school, and Father Michael Nocita, the school’s principal, assumed co-coaching duties for the boys’ and girls’ cross-country teams in September.
Mack came to Alemany this fall after coaching track at Notre Dame for 8 years. Mack, who also serves as an assistant football coach, guided Notre Dame to a runner-up finish in the Southern Section 2-A Division track championships last spring.
Alemany thought it had a track and cross-country coach when Gary Mazziotti agreed to leave Birmingham High. But Mazziotti informed Nocita on the first day of school that he would not coach.
