Army Awards Tektronix Pact Worth $12 Million

BEAVERTON, Ore. — The Army has awarded Tektronix Inc. a $12-million, five-year contract for its digital storage oscilloscopes, the company announced.
The first order for 88 units also was announced, with shipments expected within nine months.
The high-tech units will be standard equipment for the Army worldwide, for use in general electronics and with medical, radar and laser equipment, Neil Schiller, Tektronix army contracts manager, said.
The Model 2430A, chosen by the Army, is manufactured at the firm’s plant in Clark County, Wash. Most of the components come from other divisions within Tektronix or Northwest vendors, officials said.
Tektronix, Oregon’s largest private employer, has about 16,000 employees worldwide, with sales in fiscal 1988 totaling $1.4 billion.
