Two small planes collided in flight near Palmdale, damaging both aircraft but causing no injuries, Federal Aviation Administration officials said. A single-engine Cessna 150 with two people aboard apparently struck a Piper Cherokee, also with two occupants, about eight miles northeast of Palmdale, said FAA duty officer Dick Hallen. Both pilots were able to land safely at Palmdale Airport, he said, adding “there was substantial damage to both planes.†The names of the occupants were not released and it was not immediately known where the planes were heading or from where they had taken off. Officials of the National Transportation Safety Board were investigating, Hallen said.
