Yes on Soviet Festival
Our Mayor is wonderful! I have worked for the United Nations and I know what simplicity can do. Mayor O’Connor of San Diego not only realizes the basics (as evidenced by her gutsy effort to find out the problems of the homeless by enduring street life and park sleeping over the Labor Day weekend herself) to finding ways to world peace through a more idealistic way in the form of the Soviet Arts Festival.
Art encompasses all phases of life from childhood to old age and reveals the inner soul and feelings. Children’s art, particularly, can bring people together by exchanging drawings between children of the United States and Russia and who knows what other communication it can open up. It must start at that level and my comment would be not to forget the children, for their art is simple, truthful, and humorous.
