Aztecs-Sockers Exhibition Game Is Postponed

The exhibition soccer game between San Diego State and the San Diego Sockers scheduled for tonight has been postponed because of the unavailability of the Sockers’ new players. The game has been rescheduled for Sunday, Oct. 9, at 6 p.m. in Aztec Bowl.

VOLLEYBALL

Visiting Christ College Irvine defeated Point Loma Nazarene, 8-15, 15-12, 15-9, 15-6, in a Golden State Athletic Conference match. Connie Navarro led PLNC (9-10, 1-4) with 20 kills. CCI is 5-4 and 3-2.

In the West Coast Athletic Conference opener, Loyola Marymount (5-6, 1-0) came back from 2-1 deficit to defeat the University of San Diego, 15-14, 11-15, 10-15, 15-7, 15-8. Angie Rais had 14 kills and 20 digs for USD (4-7, 0-1), and Theresa Myers added 36 assists and 10 digs.

RUNNING

The La Costa Challenge, a 5-kilometer run, will be held Saturday at 8 a.m. Day-of-race registration is from 6 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. at Alga Road and Santa Isabel. Fee is $15.

TENNIS

The deadline for entry into the San Dieguito Tennis Club $3,000 Championships is 5 p.m. tonight. The U.S. Tennis Assn. tournament for sanctioned 35 years and over and 45 years and over in singles and doubles is Oct. 8-9 and 15-16. For information, call 942-9725.
