Orange Coast Comes Up Short Against El Camino, 10-9
Joseph Jezulin kicked a 44-yard field goal at the beginning of the fourth quarter and El Camino College withstood an Orange Coast rally for a 10-9 victory Saturday night in a Mission Conference football game at Orange Coast.
Orange Coast (1-1 overall, 0-1 in conference play) narrowed the deficit to one point with 2 1/2 minutes left when a center snap slipped through the hands of El Camino quarterback Frank Dolce and went out of the end zone for a safety.
The Pirates returned the El Camino free kick to their 39. Four plays later, El Camino cornerback Stefan Smith intercepted a Mike Angelovic pass at the El Camino 20 to end the Pirate threat.
El Camino took a 7-0 lead with 19 seconds left in the first quarter on Aaron Craver’s 1-yard run.
Orange Coast tied the score midway through the third quarter when Brian George broke three El Camino tackles during a 4-yard touchdown run.
El Camino (2-0, 1-0) extended its winning streak to 13 games, dating back to last season.
