The Brit Bunch
I am one of the people who refuses to donate money to KCET, Channel 28.
I refuse to subsidize the British theatrical trade unions. Here we sit in the heart of the American entertainment industry, with unemployment among actors, writers, directors and other creative people hovering around 80% and these Porsche-driving literati at PBS buy British programming with my tax dollars.
I don’t care if the Brentwood crowd and the darlings of academia want to watch 20 hours a week of programming about the problems of British royalty. Let these people pay for their tastes on cable TV.
I also dislike the hypocritical “pledge programming.†I think that’s the only time PBS shows country acts, mainstream jazz or anything else that us undereducated American slobs might find entertaining or informative.
God save the Queen.
