BOSTON — The presidential campaigns of Democrat Michael S. Dukakis and Republican George Bush on Thursday settled their squabble over the composition of the panel of journalists for their Sunday night debate.
Jim Lehrer of public television’s “The McNeil-Lehrer Report” will be moderator for the event, which will be broadcast live by the major networks beginning at 5 p.m. PDT from Winston-Salem, N. C.
The panel of three journalists will be anchorman Peter Jennings of ABC News, Anne Groer of the Orlando Sentinel and John Mashek of the Atlanta Constitution, spokeswoman Janet Brown of the Commission on Presidential Debates announced.
The camps have not yet decided who will serve on the panel for the second debate next month in Los Angeles, Brown said.
