Lethal Sequel

Phew! Martin Riggs (that’s Mel Gibson) and Roger Murtaugh (Danny Glover) will have their work cut out for them in Warners’ “Lethal Weapon II.”
The sequel--to be produced/directed by “Lethal Weapon” vet Richard Donner--abounds in sadistic bad guys and drug smugglers led by a white African. The drug lord also happens to be a small African nation’s consul general in L.A.--meaning he has diplomatic immunity. (And there’s CIA involvement in the drug ring.)
There are lots of chases, duke-outs and gunplay. Also rotten bikers, Yakuza hit men and--as per the original film--martial arts pros.
On the home front, Murtaugh’s daughter Rianne now has a boyfriend and a blossoming career--acting in commercials (like a spot for condoms!).
No sign in the early script of a romance for the gorgeous Gibson. Except . . . there is this seemingly gay accountant type (he used to launder money for the bad guys) who makes passes at both Martin and Roger. . . .
