Prep Roundup : Prep Football : Cypress Edges Irvine, 8-6, in Water Polo

After getting a second chance, Cypress High School went on to defeat Irvine, 8-6, in overtime Friday in a nonleague water polo match at Cypress.
In the fourth period, Irvine scored as time ran out and appeared to have won, 7-6. But officials ruled that time had expired, and the goal was not allowed.
Cypress (3-2) got goals from Kevin Keough and Chris Desrochers in overtime for the victory. Keough led the Centurions with three goals.
In the Millikan tournament:
Marina 12, Righetti 8--Jason Cox scored four goals for Marina at Long Beach Wilson.
Long Beach Wilson 10, Marina 5--Joe Bailey scored four goals for Long Beach Wilson. Fred Medanich had three for Marina (2-2).
In nonleague girls’ tennis:
Marina 15, Garden Grove 3--Jenny Kloss and Bridget Haenraets swept, 6-4, 6-1, 6-1, to lead host Marina (4-2).
Katella 15, Connelly 3--Lynn Vonusa swept her sets without losing a game to lead host Katella (4-1).
Capistrano Valley 17, Mater Dei 1--The Cougars swept the singles play at Costa Mesa Tennis Club. No. 1 singles player Michelle Foster won, 6-2, 6-0, 6-0, to lead Capistrano Valley (2-0).
In nonleague girls’ volleyball:
Liberty Christian 3, Temple Christian 0--Sharon Crouch had 11 service aces and 8 kills for host Liberty Christian (2-0) to a 15-7, 15-3, 15-3 victory.
