Landing Ship to Debut

WASHINGTON — The Navy plans to launch a new amphibious landing ship during ceremonies today at the Avondale Industries’ shipyard in New Orleans, the service announced Friday. The Tortuga is capable of carrying four air-cushion landing craft in its well deck and has a flight deck for helicopter operations.
