A South-Central Los Angeles couple has been ordered by Los Angeles Municipal Judge Karl W. Jaeger to stand trial on two counts of felony child endangerment for allegedly beating an 8-year-old child and keeping him occasionally in a cage.
Still recovering from bruises and fractured bones, the child testified at a preliminary hearing this week for Andrew Ezell Crosby, 34, and Brigettatha Brown, 31, who are common-law husband and wife.
The child, who is Crosby’s son, also said he was forced to sleep outdoors on a sheet of cardboard under a car. He is in protective custody with the county Department of Children’s Services.
Crosby and Brown were arrested Aug. 4 after the child ran to a neighbor asking if he could live with her for the rest of his life. The neighbor called police.
