Rowland Heights : Park to Be Dedicated

A new park named for Bill Blevins, who served for 21 years as director of recreation for the Rowland Unified School District, will be dedicated at 10 a.m. Friday at 19500 E. Windrose Drive.

The 5-acre park is the sixth park to be built in Rowland Heights. Participating in dedication ceremonies will be county Supervisor Pete Schabarum; James Okimoto, acting director of parks and recreation for the county; John Mattson, assistant superintendent of the Rowland Unified School District, and Blevins. Schabarum said the park is being named for Blevins because of his work in developing recreation programs for senior citizens and teen-agers, coordinating the Special Olympics, and undertaking a number of other projects.
