The Minnesota North Stars of the National Hockey League have suspended holdout right winger Dino Ciccarelli, retroactive to last Saturday.
The St. Paul Pioneer Press Dispatch reported that the club also would fine Ciccarelli $250 for every day he remained out of training camp, but a North Star spokeswoman would not comment on possible fines.
There has been no progress reported in the contract stalemate between General Manager Jack Ferreira and Ciccarelli, who reportedly wants a multiyear contract worth about $400,000 a year. The North Stars reportedly have offered about $300,000 a season, which is about $85,000 more than than Ciccarelli made last season.
Ciccarelli is the team’s all-time leading scorer with 300 goals.
