Wife of Baby-Food Company Founder
Dorothy Scott Gerber, 84, who in 1928 urged her husband to puree peas for their daughter, leading to the founding of Gerber baby foods. Daniel Gerber, who died in 1974, owned a canning company in Fremont, Mich., when his wife asked him to make vegetables easier for their infant daughter, Sally, to eat and digest. In 1941 the company name was changed to Gerber Products Co. In Fremont on Sunday.
