Street Lamps

Save the old street lamps (Metro, Aug. 30)! There has got to be an alternative to the sterile “bug lights” that give cities like Burbank (see Burbank Boulevard) all the charm of a Ralph’s parking lot. Why can’t the older fixtures be refitted with halogen bulbs?
The street lamps are a vestige of what this city once was. If we lose them, we’re just that much closer to living like the Jetson family. No thanks.
