2nd Amendment and Gun Laws

In response to the rash of letters regarding your Second Amendment history lesson:
Since the gun lobby (which vociferously supported Ed Meese) refuses to admit the significance of the militia clause, I propose we settle this controversy by invoking the former attorney general’s celebrated “original intent” interpretation. To wit: The people may keep and bear those arms--and only those arms--specifically intended by the Framers, i.e., flintlock rifles, swords, and single-shot, muzzle-loading pistols.
