A television cameraman suffered a small cut to the forehead when Houston Rockets center Akeem Olajuwon grabbed the cameraman’s equipment. Olajuwon apparently was irritated by an accompanying reporter’s question about a lawsuit filed against Olajuwon by his former girlfriend.

Jim Shipley of KHOU-TV was treated and released by a hospital and was doing fine, said Marc Watts, the reporter.

According to Watts, the incident occurred when Watts and Shipley went to Olajuwon’s house to get a comment from him about a lawsuit filed last week by Lita Spencer, who claims the 6-foot 11-inch center refused to marry her after she became pregnant by him because she says he wanted a taller woman to bear his sons. Olajuwon was unavailable for comment.
