Brandie Burton shot a 3-under-par 71 to set a 36-hole record in the 13th annual PGA Junior Championship at St. Louis.
At 141, Burton, 16, of Rialto, Calif., has the lowest two-round total in tournament history, as well as the only subpar score ever at the halfway point. The previous record was set in 1982 by Heather Farr, of Phoenix, at even par 144, on the PGA National Course in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.
Burton held a four-stroke lead over Kimberly Cayce, 17, of Potomac, Md., who had a 72-73--145.
