A small plane crashed on Mt. Bullion near Yosemite-Mariposa Airport, killing the pilot. Mariposa County sheriff’s deputies identified the victim as Louis Ray Tedford, 28, of Delhi. “The plane’s engine was malfunctioning, and the pilot tried to rev it up” as he flew over the 3,300-foot mountain, reported Richard Crane of Mt. Bullion, a former pilot. Crane said he heard what sounded like a backfire, then heard a crash. Forbes Simpson, a pilot at Yosemite-Mariposa Airport, said the plane was a Canard that had undergone a flight test and received final clearance from the Federal Aviation Administration two weeks ago.
