The World : Israel May Get Spy Satellite

Israel is on the verge of launching a spy satellite into low Earth orbit after secretly test-firing a medium-range missile into the Mediterranean Sea last May, Time magazine reported. Citing unnamed intelligence sources, the weekly news magazine said Israel will become the eighth country known to possess a rocket powerful enough to lift a satellite into orbit. With the satellite aloft, Israel would no longer depend solely on U.S. satellite intelligence and would gain a potential advantage in any military confrontation with its neighbors in the Middle East. Israel has refused to confirm or deny the satellite program, Time said.
