A grand jury has indicted a school bus driver on manslaughter and assault charges in a May accident that killed three people and injured 20 others, police said Friday.

State Police Sgt. Dennis Cody said Louis Taylor, 44, was indicted by a Dutchess County grand jury on three counts of second-degree manslaughter, eight counts of second-degree assault and 11 counts of third-degree assault.

Taylor, an employee of Laidlaw Transportation Inc., was driving the bus May 16 in the town of Clinton Corners when the vehicle missed a curve, hit a utility pole, flipped over a guardrail and plunged down a ravine.
