Man’s Leg Severed in Jump to Train
A San Diego man lost part of his left leg early Friday when he tried to jump onto a moving train, authorities said.
San Diego police spokesman Bill Robinson said Oswaldo Reyes, 21, tried to jump onto a train in the 1600 block of California Street, near the Amtrak station. When Reyes missed the train and fell, his left leg was severed below the knee by the moving railroad car.
Reyes was taken to the trauma unit at UC San Diego Medical Center, where surgery was performed, hospital spokeswoman Sheri Smith said.
He was reported in fair condition Saturday.
