Funds for an assistance center to serve troubled middle-school students have been approved by the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District Board of Education.
The $45,350 center was among more than $91,000 in additions to the district’s 1988-89 budget.
The center will provide individualized counseling and academic guidance for students with adjustment and attendance problems. Its goal is to help students resolve their problems, then return to their regular schools.
The center will serve 15 students from middle schools and will be located at Olympic High School, a continuation school. It will open in September.
