Local News in Brief : Finalist for Police Chief

Deputy Chief William M. Rathburn, commander of the Los Angeles Police Department’s South Bureau, has been named one of nine finalists for the job of police chief in Dallas.
Rathburn, 47, would replace Billy Prince, who in April announced his resignation amid complaints by black citizens that racism and excessive force were rampant among Dallas’ 2,400 police officers. Prince is to leave office in September.
