I’m not surprised by the reaction of Farrelly’s friends when he told them of the suicidal woman. More often than not we turn away from the lost child wandering through the mall or the suspicious character breaking into that car in the parking structure because we fear the truth: that there may be something terribly wrong and that we, ordinary as we are, are the only heroes available to come to the rescue.
