Local News in Brief : 3 Hikers Found in Forest
A father and two teen-age girls missing overnight from a hiking expedition in the Angeles National Forest were located Friday by a sheriff’s search-and-rescue team.
The three hikers, Curtis Jones, 39, his daughter Amanda, 14, and Brandy Swanson, her 14-year-old friend, were located about 10:30 a.m. by a rescue team that had begun a search of the Buckhorn Campground area Thursday when the three were reported missing.
Deputies said the man’s wife, Susan Jones, reported the three missing about 6:30 p.m. Thursday after they failed to meet her at Newcomb’s Ranch Cafe, about 30 miles north of La Canada Flintridge, on the Angeles Crest Highway.
