Gorbachev is telling the Communist Party that he wants radical change under glasnost (Part I, June 29). He says he wants “greater democracy throughout Soviet life.” If Gorbachev really wants full-blooded democracy he would tear down the Berlin wall, let the Soviet people emigrate as they please, and exercise complete freedom of speech and religion.
