Alien Found Shot to Death Near Border
An undocumented alien who only hours earlier had been voluntarily deported to Mexico was found shot to death Friday night just inside the border, San Diego police said.
Dave Cohen, a police spokesman, said Saturday that the body of Lucio Reyes-Franco, believed to be in his upper 20s, was found along a dirt road about a quarter of a mile north of the border and half a mile southeast of Monument Road.
Cohen said Reyes-Franco, who was from Morelos, Mexico, had been voluntarily deported earlier in the day. The body was found about 8 p.m. Friday by a U.S. Border Patrol agent who was checking detection devices near the border.
Cohen said it appeared that the victim had been robbed, and that his assailant was ransacking the body when he heard a border agent and fled.
