In Country (Warner Bros.). Shooting in Kentucky and Washington. Director Norman Jewison follows up “Moonstruck†in a drama starring Bruce Willis and Emily Lloyd. Based on the Bobbie Ann Mason novel. Producers Jewison, Chuck Mulvehill and Richard Roth. Screenwriter Frank Pierson.

Personal Choice (Fivestar). Shooting in Vancouver. David Saperstein (who wrote “Cocoonâ€) directs/writes a space yarn starring Martin Sheen as an ex-astronaut who passes on a lunar legacy to aspiring moonwalker Christian Slater. Also stars F. Murray Abraham, Robert Foxworth, Sharon Stone and Olivia d’Abo.

Revenge of the Radioactive Reporter (Pryceless). Shooting in Toronto. A B-movie parody (surprised?) involving a journalist investigating corruption at a power plant who’s thrown into a radioactive containment tank by those execs he intends to expose. Executive producers Andre Bigio and Howard Goldfarb. Producer/director Craig Pryce. Screenwriters David Wiechorek and Pryce. Stars David Scammell, Kathryn Boese and Randy Pearlstein. Early ’89 release.

Steel Magnolias (Rastar). Shooting in Louisiana. Sally Field, Dolly Parton, Shirley MacLaine, Daryl Hannah, Olympia Dukakis and Julie Roberts star in Robert Harling’s adaptation of his own Off-Broadway play. Herbert Ross directs the story of the lives, loves, joys and sorrows of a group of women in Louisiana’s tiny town of Natchitoches. Executive producer Victoria White. Producer Ray Stark. Distributor Tri-Star.
