The Cobras, with a 4-6 record and still needing a win to clinch an Arena Football League playoff berth, will try for it the hard way tonight, on the road against the unbeaten Chicago Bruisers in the Rosemont Horizon.
With two games remaining--both against the Bruisers--the Cobras need either a win or a loss by the New York Knights to clinch the fourth and final playoff berth. The Cobras lost to the Knights, 40-30, last Saturday.
The first-place Bruisers (10-0) have clinched the regular-season title and the home-field advantage in the playoffs. The Bruisers beat the Cobras, 46-35, in the second week of the season.
Tonight’s game figures to be a battle between the league’s top two quarterbacks, Cobra Matt Stevens and Bruiser Ben Bennett. Stevens leads with 45 touchdown passes and 2,200 yards; Bennett has 43 touchdown passes and 2,007 yards.
ESPN will televise the game at 5:30 p.m., PDT.
