Local News in Brief : Man Held in Girl’s Death
The boyfriend of a woman who returned to their Cerritos home to find her 16-month-old daughter comatose has been arrested on suspicion of murder after the baby died at a Long Beach hospital, sheriff’s officials said Friday.
Dallas Rebello, 25, was being held at the Lakewood sheriff’s station without bail on suspicion of murder after his arrest late Thursday, Deputy Bill Wehner said.
“We’re awaiting the results of an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death, but there was sufficient evidence of physical abuse to the child to warrant the arrest,†Wehner said.
June Burns, 24, the mother of 16-month-old Jessica Burns, called paramedics after she returned home from a shopping trip about 4:30 p.m. Thursday and found Jessica comatose, Wehner said.
