TELLING THE OLD FROM THE NEW SANS PROGRAM
- Share via
Aside from a nice three-figure mortgage payment, is there anything that makes Orange County old-timers different from those who have arrived during the last five years? Most certainly. Long-term county residents, that is, those who have lived here for more than 10 years are:
More likely to be Republican, although much of the difference may be a function of newcomers not aligning with either party (about one-fourth claim no affiliation);
Slightly less well educated;
Somewhat older;
Moderately more affluent, and
More likely to live in the northern section of the county.*
The major division, though, is home ownership.
