Keefe and Evans Given Awards as Section Athletes of the Year

Adam Keefe of Woodbridge High School and Janet Evans of El Dorado have been named the Southern Section boys’ and girls’ athletes of the year by the All-Southern California Board of Athletics.
Keefe, a senior, was twice named the section’s 2-A division player of the year in basketball and was the 4-A player of the year in volleyball. He scored 2,212 points in four basketball seasons, finishing 11th on the state’s career scoring list.
Keefe, who had a 3.6 grade-point average, will attend Stanford, where he plans to play both sports.
Evans, a junior, established three world swimming records in 1987, setting marks in the 400-, 800- and 1,500-meter freestyle events. She is scheduled to compete in the Olympic trials in Austin, Tex., next month.
