A Sacramento man was found dead after his hang glider crashed into a hillside near the Colorado River Aqueduct, authorities said. Richard A. Cassetta, 43, was found tangled in the wreckage about a mile north of Interstate 10 on the west side of Whitewater Canyon, Riverside County sheriff’s deputies said. Cassetta had been participating in a long-distance hang-gliding competition from Lake Elsinore to Yucca Valley, officers said. Other participants found him and notified authorities. No one witnessed the accident, but investigators believe high winds contributed to the crash.
