TRUE GRIT

Regarding “True Grit” (May 1): Carol Rossen’s excerpt from her forthcoming book struck a very strong chord. Most women today have the fear of an unprovoked attack by a stranger. Even if that fear is unacknowledged, it is in their innermost thoughts. Rossen encountered an attack, and she did what we all pray we can do--she survived by her wit and her cunning. Her assailant might have escaped, but she has conquered her fear and regained her sense of rage--and she apparently has written a terrifying, gripping, about-to-be best seller.
