15th Annual Photo Contest : CALIFORNIA FACES : Children, Captured on Film, Are the Stars of This Year’s Winning Entries

In its 15th Annual Photo Contest, the Los Angeles Times put out a call for “California Faces.� As the 13 winning images on these pages attest, young people were the most popular portrait subjects of the year. The four top winners received cash prizes of $1,500, $750, $500 and $250. Contest judges were magazine staffers Nancy Duckworth, art director; Alison Morley, picture editor, and Jefferson G. Stillwell, operations director.
