Arab newspapers called for action rather than words after the just-concluded Arab summit in Algiers which pledged total support for the Palestinian uprising in Israel’s occupied territories. “The everlasting question which persists after Arab summits remains: How will such decisions be translated into action, and what are the guarantees for Arab commitment to them?†asked an editorial in the Sharjah newspaper Al Khaleej. In Kuwait, meanwhile, the newspaper Al-Rai Aam said that Arab leaders at the summit promised to pay a monthly subsidy of $42 million to support the activities of the Palestine Liberation Organization.
