Director Alan Parker should be blasted for his treatment of Chris Gerolmo, the screenwriter. From “it ain’t worth making” to his subsequent parallel rewrite, we see clearly Parker’s egomania. The Writers Guild should never allow such things to happen.
You know, the powerful people in Hollywood constantly lament the fact that there are so few good scripts available these days. Small wonder. Smart writers are now sitting on their scripts--demanding to be allowed to direct their work themselves. Or, they are giving up altogether in disgust.
