Reagan Discusses American Indians
Seldom have I heard anyone spout so much ignorance and misunderstanding about a race of people as President Reagan’s remarks regarding our treatment of the American Indian.
To state that the simple solution to their economic and social problems is to become a part of the established American economic system is a typical example of many Americans misunderstanding of these people: that they are just that--a people, not a culture that reverents Mother Earth, which our advanced society has polluted and raped in almost every way possible.
Then again, what else can we expect from a President whose Hollywood background gave us Geronimo portrayed by a blond-haired, blue-eyed actor?
