A 35-year-old man died early Tuesday from injuries received when his car crashed into a truck that had smashed into the center divider of the Golden State Freeway, the California Highway Patrol said.
Natividad Salas of Alhambra was taken to St. Joseph Medical Center in Burbank following the 4:30 a.m. accident. He died a short time later, a hospital spokeswoman said.
Salas had been traveling alone and no one was in the truck, which was across two of the freeway’s northbound lanes near Olive Avenue, said CHP spokeswoman Linda Curtis.
Curtis said the truck, owned by a branch of the military, broke loose from a vehicle that was towing it and struck the center divider.
The accident is under investigation.
