Woman, 69, Badly Beaten in Her Yard

A woman who was attacked in the front yard of her Normal Heights home was listed in critical condition Sunday night.
San Diego police said Marcella McNees, 69, was beaten over the head with a sharp instrument. McNees crawled back into her house in the 2900 block of Polk Avenue but was too dazed to call for help, police said. The wounded woman was discovered about 10 a.m. Sunday by her daughter, Sgt. Jim Long said.
A Mercy Hospital spokeswoman said McNees is in critical but stable condition in the intensive care ward.
Long said police have no suspects.
