A grandmother and three children, including an infant in a stroller, hit by a car Friday morning while crossing a Chatsworth street were in stable condition and improving on Saturday, hospital officials reported.

The three children, Eder Morales, 4, Jose Hernandez, 6, and 11-month-old Carlos Guzman, were flown by helicopter from the Devonshire Street accident to Childrens Hospital in Hollywood.

The four, all of whom live in Chatsworth, were crossing Devonshire, with Carlos in a baby carriage, en route to Jose’s and Eder’s school Friday morning when they were struck by a car driven by Karon Bourgoin, 30, of Simi Valley.

Police said that Bourgoin was distracted just before striking the foursome. An investigation of the accident is continuing, police said.
