Recall Election in Laguna Beach
I’m talking recall of Laguna Beach City Council members. No problem with the recall process. It’s legal. A tool to fire elected officials who’ve dumped bad laws on the public, or committed a misdemeanor. None of these has occurred.
Before you sign recall you have to remember the big scene. Temptation is to join the hooters screaming for revenge. The big scene in Laguna Beach is the unrelenting fight against destructive development and protection of the village atmosphere.
The City Council needs not faint praise. What it does deserve is credit for the biggest scene of all: preservation and enhancement of the spirit of Laguna Beach. That is the precious treasure this City Council has helped to bring.
This recall, motivated as it is by greed and revenge, would rot our hard won treasures and turn us into a shantytown of avaricious entrepreneurs.
