Outrage Over Beating of an Elephant
The stories of the treatment of Dunda are most disturbing. Elephants have no natural enemies with the sole exception of man. The most violent predators in the wild do not attack the mature elephant.
The idea put forth by Roocroft that beating an elephant over the head more than 100 times with an ax handle and/or a “baton-like elephant stick” is “just a drop a pond to what happens to them in the wild” is either unforgivable ignorance or an outright public relations lie. This is the man in charge of elephants at a very large animal park who either does not know his business or is simply protecting himself from adverse media coverage by telling the world an absolute falsehood.
We are superior in strength to animals because we have the wherewithal to manufacture weapons.
