The manager of a car repair shop in an unincorporated area near Gardena was shot and killed Tuesday after a conversation with two men in front of his store, sheriff’s deputies said.
Gonzalo Vallajo Lopez, 30, the manager of the MJR Auto Repair Shop, was fatally shot by one of two men who drove in front of his store in the 13900 block of Western Avenue in a black Pontiac Trans-Am, Deputy Richard Dinsmoor said.
One of the men got out of the car and Lopez approached him, Dinsmoor said. After a brief conversation, the man opened fire on Lopez, then returned to the car and drove off.
Lopez, a Long Beach resident, died Tuesday afternoon of multiple gunshot wounds at Gardena Memorial Hospital, Dinsmoor said. Witnesses said the two men had visited the repair shop earlier in the day.
