WASHINGTON — The distributor of Avanti strollers is offering a kit to repair a design problem that has resulted in cuts and other injuries to children, the Consumer Product Safety Commission announced Thursday.
The commission said 13 instances have been reported in which children’s chins became caught between a metal wire guide and the arm rest, leading to cuts and damaged teeth.
Involved in the offer are Avanti strollers sold by Peg Perego U.S.A. Inc., based in Ft. Wayne, Ind. The commission said 11,344 of the strollers were sold for $99 each in 1986.
