Cranston Files for Divorce

Sen. Alan Cranston (D-Calif.) has filed for divorce to end his 10-year marriage to his wife, Norma, his lawyer said. Cranston cited “irreconcilable differences” in the petition, which was filed in Superior Court by former Los Angeles Bar Assn. president Patricia Phillips. Cranston, 73, could not be reached immediately for comment, but his aide, Kam Kuwata, confirmed that the senator had begun the divorce proceedings. The couple were married May 19, 1978. It was Cranston’s second marriage. They did not have any children.
