Kenji Fukunaga; Japanese Politician

Kenji Fukunaga, 77, a veteran politician of the governing party and former speaker of Japan’s lower house. Beginning in 1949, Fukunaga won election 15 consecutive times to the House of Representatives in the Diet, Japan’s parliament. He served as lower house Speaker for two years up to 1985. He also served as minister for labor, transport, and health and welfare between 1961 and 1977. In Tokyo on Tuesday of respiratory failure.
