Your editorial (“Not a Pretty Sight,� May 14) regarding the deterioration of our nation’s parks was right on target. It is yet another indication of how out of touch President Reagan is from the country’s essential agenda. He continually complains about the inadequacy of our $300-billion defense budget, while neglecting or even attacking environmental and infrastructural support programs. If our new President fails to reverse this trend, we will end up with a strong defense but nothing worthwhile left to defend!
